Ash Dance
火繪

When ceramics undergo the process of wood-firing within an outdoor wood-firing kiln, flames and ashes dance upon currents, leaving traces of paint on each ceramic with unique colour and effect beyond control and estimation.  This is why many ceramic artists are indulged in the art of wood-firing.

This upcoming exhibition is originated from an exchange activity on ceramics-making and wood-firing.  A group of students from the Hong Kong Art School's Bachelor of Arts (Fine Art) programme (majoring in Ceramics) were led by two Ceramics lecturers from the School to carry out exchanges with students from the Kyoto University of Art & Design, with wood-firing being the activity's highlight.  Despite of the imperfectness of the wood-fired ceramics made, the participating artists would like to share the fun and vitality in the "Ash Dance" through this exhibition.
